Flagship features are here: motion, touchpad, lightbar, and battery now work end to end

The update a lot of you have been waiting for just landed. Everything a modern controller can do, including the parts that used to stop at “buttons and sticks,” now makes the whole trip from your hand to your game. Motion, the touchpad, the lightbar, and the battery indicator all work.

Here’s what that actually feels like when you’re playing.

Gyro aim works

If you’ve played a precision shooter with gyro aim on a DualSense or a Switch Pro, you know how much it helps with fine targeting: tiny tilts of the controller to nudge your aim while the stick does the big movements. That now works through Dish, all the way to the game on your PC.

There’s a fun bonus, too. Even if your controller doesn’t have motion built in, your phone does. So tilt-to-aim straight from the phone in your hand is suddenly a real option.

The touchpad does something now

The DualSense touchpad isn’t just a big button. Games lean on it for maps, menus, and gestures. Now those two-finger swipes and taps reach your game, and the click registers as its own button.

If you’d rather, you can flip the touchpad into a trackpad that moves the mouse cursor. That’s handy for menu-heavy games, or when you want the controller to pull double duty.

A lightbar that matches the game

Plenty of PS5 games change the lightbar to mirror what’s happening on screen, like your health, an alert, or the mood of a scene. With this update, that color makes it back to the controller in your hand, so the light glows and shifts right along with the game, the way it was meant to.

Your battery, where you can see it

Your controller’s battery level and charge state now show up, so you get a heads-up before it dies mid-session instead of a surprise on the next dodge.

It all just turns on

You don’t have to set up any of this. If you were already paired, you stay paired. Open Dish and it picks up the new abilities on its own. Each device only sends what it can actually use, so nothing gets in your way.

Updating is just as painless. Open Satellite, check for updates, click install. That’s the whole thing.

What’s next

We’re not done. On the horizon: richer rumble effects beyond the simple buzz, and pressure-sensitive trigger feel like the DualSense’s adaptive triggers. Those depend on the hardware and software underneath catching up, so the honest answer on timing is “when it’s ready” rather than a date, but they’re the next things we’re chasing.
