Flagship features are here: motion, touchpad, lightbar, and battery now work end to end

This update brings the rest of a modern controller along with the buttons and sticks. Motion, the touchpad, the lightbar, and the battery indicator now make the whole trip from your hand to your game.

Here’s what that means when you play.

Gyro aim works

If you’ve played a shooter with gyro aim on a DualSense or a Switch Pro, you know how much it helps with fine targeting: small tilts of the controller nudge your aim while the stick handles the big movements. That now works through Dish, all the way to the game on your PC.

Your controller doesn’t need motion sensors for this. Your phone has them, so tilt-to-aim straight from the phone in your hand works too.

The touchpad works

Games use the DualSense touchpad for maps, menus, and gestures. Two-finger swipes and taps now reach your game, and the click registers as its own button. With no DualSense in hand, your phone’s screen can act as the touchpad.

A lightbar that matches the game

Some games change the lightbar to match what’s happening on screen, like your health or an alert. That color now comes back to the controller in your hand, so the light changes along with the game.

Your battery, where you can see it

Your controller’s battery level and charge state now show up, so you get a warning before it dies mid-session.

Nothing to set up

If you were already paired, you stay paired. Open Dish and it picks up the new features on its own. Each device only sends what it can use.

To update Satellite, open it, check for updates, and install.

Since then

When this post went out, the next things on the list were richer vibration and the DualSense’s adaptive triggers. Both have shipped since. Adaptive triggers arrived in Dish 2.0, and HD haptics in Satellite 2.1, for games like 007 First Light that vibrate a DualSense with audio. See DualSense haptics on PC without a cable and DualSense adaptive triggers on PC over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Try it

Update Dish on your phone and Satellite on your PC, pick a game with gyro aim or a lightbar that changes color, and feel the difference.
